Ahmadiyya and Double-talk
“How can the same kind of thing mean quite different things?
It certainly is a point for all serious-minded persons to consider.”

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad about Earthquakes
- Mirza Ghulam’s prophecy about earthquakes:
“Before the earthquake of April 4, 1905, He revealed to me on four different occasions that the Punjab would experience a terrible eartquake (…) the True God therefore is the God Who even now, through His revelation, reveals to us the Signs of His Power, and there are thousands of prophecies which have been fulfilled in accordance with the revelations vouchsafed to me.”
(Chashma-i-Masihi, P. 57 Footnote)
- Mirza about the prophecies of Jesus (AS):
“The prophecies of this helpless man (Jesus AS) were merely that earthquakes, famines, droughts, and wars will occur (…) Why did these stupid Israelites see these common occurrences as prophecies?”
(Anjam-i-Atham, Roohany Khazaen, Vol. 11, P. 288, Addenda)
The use of Intoxicants: generations
- The grandfather of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad:
“At this point, it would not be without benefit to record that my great-grandfather, Mirza Gul Muhammad, died of hiccough along with other ailments. At the height of his disease, the physicians all agreed that if alcohol was used for a few days for this disease it would probably help. But they did not have the courage to say it to him. At last some of them mentioned it to him gently. He said: “If God the Most High intends to heal there are many other medicines created by Him; I do not want to use this filth, I am content with the decree and fate ordained by God.” At last he died of the same illness a few days later. Death was destined but his way of righteousness became a permanent memorial, that he had prefered death to taking alcohol. What does a man do to escape death? But he prefered death to committing a sin. Pity on those lords, aristocrats and rules who, in this short life here, neglecting entirely their God and His commands, and cutting off all connections with Him, indulge in sin to their heart’s content by drinking alcohol like water. Thus making their life unclean, they loose even the natural span of life and die sooner by falling victim to some dreadful ailments, leaving behind a most sordid example of posterity.”

The next generations
-
The “Promised Messiah” Mirza Ghulam Ahmad:
“My Beloved Hakeem Muhammad Hussein Saheb,
Assalamo alaikum wa Rehmatullah wa Barakatohu.
Presently I am sending Mian Yar Mohammad. Purchase yourself all the things that are to be purcahsed and buy one bottle of TONIC WINE from the Plommer Shop. But I want TONIC WINE, make a note of it. Rest is fine. Wassalam.
(signed) Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.
(Letters of Imam towards Ghulam, p.5, Majmooa-e-Maktoobat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad towards Hakeem Muhammad Hussain Qureishi Saheb Qadiani, Owner of Rafeeq-us-Sehat Dispensary, Lahore.)
- The “Promised Messiah” Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and his first successor:
“OPIUM is used so extensively used in medicines that Hazrat Maseeh Mow’ood (Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani) used to say that in the eyes of some Hakeems (Doctors) Opium is half the medicine. Thus to use Opium along with other medicines as a medicament and not as an intoxicant is not in any way objectionable. All of us have knowingly or unknowingly used Opium at one time or another… Hazrat Maseeh Mow’ood prepared a medicine ‘TIRYAQ-e-ILAHI’ under instructions from God and its one of the main constituent was OPIUM and Huzoor (Mirza Ghulam) gave this medicine, with a little more addition of Opium, to Hazrat Khalifa Awwal (Hakeem Nuruddin, the 1st Successor of Mirza Ghulam) for more than 6 months and off and on used himself as well during the attacks of various illnesses.”
(Article of Mian Mahmood Ahmad Saheb, Khalifa Qadian, Akhbar Al-Fazl vol.17 No.6 p.2 Dated 19th July 1929)
Can 3 be 1 ?
- Mirza Ghulam Ahmad about the Christians who believe that 3 can be 1:
“They [the Christians] believe in three gods - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Their explanation, however, that they believe the “three” to be “one” is absurd: no sane man would accept this explanation (…) what arithmetic can make them “one”; what school or college teaches this principle? Can any logic or philosophy clear the mysterie of the “three” permanent “PERSONS” becoming “one”? If it be said that this is a mystery which surpasses human understanding, it is only a fraud. ”
(Chashma-i-Masihi, P. 59)
- Mirza Ghulma Ahmad about himself:
“I am sometimes Adam, sometimes Moses, sometimes Jacob.
Moreover I am Abraham, my generations are countless.”
(Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya, Part 5, Durre-Sameen P.100 Roohani Vol.21 P.133)
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and the qualities of his Early Associates
- Mirza Ghulam Ahmad about his Early Associates:
“The majority of people who have joined my sect are those who are either holding eminent posts with the British Court, or the goodly rich men, their servants and friends or businessmen, lawyers or those educated in the modern way or such famous scholars, servants and noblemen …”
(Poster dated February 24, 1897; Tabligh-e-Risalat, Vol. 7, P.18, recorded by Qasim Ali Qadiani)
- Mirza Ghulam about education:
“In those days Punjab University was newly built and an Arabic teacher was required whose salary would be 100 ruppees (a huge amount in those days). I asked Mirza Sahib to send an application since your knowledge about Arabic language is perfect, you will surely get this job. He said:‘I do not like teaching/studying because many people after studying make a lot of mischief and use knowledge as a means of illegal work.”
(Seeratul Mahdi Part 1 P.139)
